The 4th annual Ventura Music Week runs from June 5th through June15th. And the town is going to rock!

Celebrate Ventura’s local music scene

2014 music week singerFrom poetic bohemian-styled coffee-shop sounds and surf-influenced beats on a warm, sunny day to the heart-pumping energy of a mosh pit at the Majestic Ventura Theater and perhaps a few stories about the man in black thrown in for good measure, Ventura’s diverse musical history has always portrayed cultural and creative fellowship for aspiring musicians. Whether reminiscing about local hangouts or witnessing the up-and-comings and the ones who have made it, these stories and memories become a snapshot of the history of Ventura’s local music scene.

A long history as a music town

Ventura has always been a music town and is continuing to evolve and attract not only music lovers but also musicians from all over the world. Ranked fourth in the United States as one of the top places in the Music Industry, Ventura County has fast become not only a rising star for listeners but also a hub for the behind-the-scenes music industry as well. From off-the-beaten-path recording studios and big-name management companies to the diverse offering of festivals, there is always something “music” going on. It may all seem like an overnight occurrence but it really has been going on for quite some time. Ventura, Ojai, Oxnard and the surrounding county have long been a quiet haven from many famous music superstars like Johnny Cash, Dave Mason, Jack Johnson and Dave Grohl as well as some of our own local legends including Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Suicidal Tendencies and The Missing 23rd.
