Road trips and music

Man-in-Black-youngWhen I was a child, I spent a great deal of time on road trips – the family vacations each summer heading across country, stopping to see the sites, relatives and friends. My father was the ultimate road trip guy. He and my mother would pack all five of us kids in the station wagon and head off on new adventures. My father loved music and the radio was always blasting as we sang along to Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams and his favorite, Johnny Cash.

As an adult I still like nothing better than getting in the car, no matter what country I am in, and hitting the road. Each time I do, I can hear Johnny Cash in my head and the sound of my father’s voice singing along. It still brings a few tears to my eyes as I remember great times and lots of laughter.

Say thanks to Johnny

As I explained this story to Cindy Cash (Johnny’s Daughter) she said, “It really is amazing how many people my father touched and he connected so many of us together.”

On June 15th at the Ventura Fairgrounds, Roadshow Revival presents A Tribute to Johnny Cash. It’s a great way for all of us to say a huge “thank you” to the Man in Black.

Emily, the general admission price is $25 you can get a discount by using the code – RSR2013TLVC 10% saving. Tons of top name acts, two stages, a vintage car and motorcycle show, loads of great booths we fee is well worth the admission price.

  2. When I was a child my cousin and I would wander in my grandparents basement. There were many records and photos hanging on the wall… photo stood out that was autographed. The photo was of my grandparents sitting at a white linen table, all dressed up, in what appeared to be a nice restaurant. Sitting with them was Johnny Cash. I didn’t know who he was and when I asked my grandfather said, they had dinner with him that night….it wasn’t until later I really learned who Johnny was.

  3. The only time I danced on a table was in a country bar to the tune of …well it was Johnny Cash, but I can’t remember much else.
